Grant a Wish

A low-income family with 7 household members living in rental housing. There are 7 household members comprising, parents and 5 children with 3 between 4 to 7 yo. Father is the sole income earner. The machine that they had, broke down 2 weeks ago and they had been either hand washing or using the laundromat for heavier items.

Young cancer patient with difficulties walking requires a motorized wheelchair for mobility. She is unable to operate a manual wheelchair with her current condition.

Client is a 37-year-old single mum residing with her son in NS, and her elderly parents in a 1-room rental flat. She is in the midst of changing jobs and will start her new part-time job earning about $1.3k a month. She is not on any form of financial assistance. A washing machine was previously donated to her, but she was unable to afford installation costs by a plumbing company. Hence, she needs a sponsor to help her fund the installation cost for her washing machine.

Client (54 years old) and wife (53 years old) reside in a 2-room rental flat with their 13-year-old son in secondary school. Both husband and wife are HIV-positive and hence spend $300-400 on HIV medicine every month. Husband also has right-side paralysis and wife has precancer of the womb, hence they are both unfit for work and on long-term financial assistance. Due to their HIV medicine, they get rashes due to their body becoming heaty often. Hence, they require an air-conditioner in their home, but are unable to afford one along with installation costs.

This family resides in a 2-room rental flat. The couple is currently going through a divorce. Wife is the main breadwinner, providing for the family, and her income alone is only sufficient for the family's basic needs. They have 4 school going children (in primary school) who enjoy watching television as a recreation, especially during this school holiday period. However, their television spoiled recently, and a donated television had some issues with the contrast (yellowish) and they can't revert it back. Children have reported experiencing eye strain while watching shows with a yellowish contrast. Family would benefit from a donated television as they bond through shows.

Family is living together in 1 room flat and have debts to pay.Client would like to request for a fridge that has a bigger freezer space if possible - as she would often store many ingredients for cooking.(D)

Client is the main caregiver for her 2 young children, the family just moved into a new rental flat and would need some help to get new mattresses as their old ones are stained. Client and her husband are not able to sustain meaningful employment due to their caregiving responsibilities. Family is known to many SSAs due to their complex needs. (D)

Family has two small children and is in a need of a fridge. The current fridge had suddenly become faulty and does not function.

A family of 4 who are living in a 2 room rental flat is faced with financial difficulties as child's mother is recently released from prison and is providing full-time caregiving to her grandmother who has stroke. She hopes to receive support through the purchase of a portable air conditioner, especially during the current humid weather.
