Grant a Wish

The Helping Hand (THH) is a Volunteer Welfare Organization affiliated with the National Council of Social Service. We run a home providing drug rehabilitation and after-care services to male drug addicts and ex-offenders in Singapore. This is a residential programme carried out in our agency home, which is graciously provided by the Singapore government in recognition of our services to the community. We have a kitchen section that serves as a training channel for residents to gain cooking experience, preparing them for employment after leaving THH. A kitchen worktop with two shelves and a top, measuring 97cm in width, 130cm in length, and 81cm in height, is needed to prepare three daily meals for about 100 residents and staff.

We have a bakery section that serves as a training channel for residents to gain baking experience, preparing them for employment after leaving THH. The bakery section is also open to the public for pastry orders, operating as an enterprise to help support THH’s expenses. The bakery section would like to have a cake display counter measuring 120cm in length, 80cm in width, and 110cm in height, to keep the pastry items fresh for customers to purchase.

Family is a household of 4 with two young children. The oldest child, aged 9, has significant developmental delays and requires daily use of diapers and close supervision. The father is the sole breadwinner but faces frequent job instability, making it challenging to sustain consistent household income. The mother is unable to take up employment due to her full-time caregiving responsibilities, particularly for the child with special needs.

Low-income family with a school-going child requires a bicycle for daily transport to and from school. Currently relying on public transport, which incurs ongoing costs that are difficult to sustain. A bicycle will help reduce transport expenses and support the family’s financial stability. Parent is working delivery jobs with irregular income, while the other caregiver is actively seeking full-time employment. Bicycle will be used regularly for school commute and essential errands.
