155844 Aircon
This is a low-income family of 5 with a son diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Mother is a single parent and the primary caregiver to all the children. Her son who is diagnosed with ASD is currently experiencing severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) across his body. His condition has resulted in multiple open wounds, persistent itchiness, and recurring bacterial infections due to intense scratching. Despite ongoing treatments, the current hot and humid weather and home environment is exacerbating his symptoms, making daily management extremely challenging. Child has not been able to attend school due to the severity of his condition. An air-conditioning unit, with necessary piping installation, would be essential to help regulate the home environment. Given the family’s limited savings and inability to seek full-time employment due to caregiving responsibilities, they are unable to afford this on their own. The support for an air-conditioning unit for this family will make a significant difference in supporting the child's health and easing the caregiving demands for the family. Given the child’s needs, a portable aircon may not be ideal due to its accessibility and relatively high noise levels.
